Sofia the First Party
My baby is 3!!!! To celebrate, she wanted a Sofia the First themed birthday party. Great - we love Sofia! Only there was a problem... since Sofia is so new, there are no party supplies whatsoever available!
Not to worry - I made it happen. Here's how...
THE CAKE:
I ordered a 1/2 sheet cake from the bakery and asked them for white icing and purple piping. Then I purchased Sofia the First figures from the Disney store, washed them, and put them on top. Perfect!
THE DECORATIONS:
I purchased plain swirly decorations, cut out pictures of Sofia and attached them with string. I also bought "Happy Birthday" banners and used the space in between Happy and Birthday to put a picture of Sofia or one of the other characters. In fact, I printed out tons of pictures of the Royal Family and put them everywhere! On the flower centerpieces, on the mirrors, walls, doors, etc. My favorite is in the above photo - I placed pictures of the Royal Family in frames!
I also bought plastic tablecloths and used them to drape the doorways. I tied bows in each corner with purple and white tulle.
And of course - TONS of purple and white balloons!
THE ACTIVITIES:
A must-have at any little girl's birthday - a dress up station! This dress up station had tiaras, crowns, fans (Princess Amber!), necklaces, sunglasses, and blowers. I found a PDF of the "Keep Calm and Princess On" Sofia sign, printed it out on photo paper, and framed it!
I found this great cardboard castle on sale for $15! In addition to playing in it, the children had a great time coloring it!
We also set up a table with Play-Doh and a coloring table with printed out Sofia the First coloring pages.
To include Robin and Mia in the day, the children painted birdhouses! I found them all at our local craft store for $1 and already had the Tempura paint in our art box. I asked each parent to bring their own smock. Each child was given 4 jello-shot cups - 3 colors and a water.
And of course - we had a Sofia the First CD going in the CD player with 2 microphones to sing along with.
The Food:
For food we had deli finger sandwiches, chips and dip, cheese and crackers, and veggies and dip. I always give children their own food table at parties - because really, who likes sharing the dip with kids? I used jello-shot cups to place dip in so that each child could have his/her own.
CENTERPIECE: You can also see the centerpieces I made in this picture - small vases with purple flowers and a Sofia the First picture. (All the others were glass, but the children's table got a plastic cup as a vase.) Mason jars made adorable vases!
GOODY-BAGS:
Ahhhh my camera ate the goody bag picture! But I bought purple paper bags and filled them with bubbles, books, socks, jewelry, boas, and airplanes for the boys. I then tied a white ribbon to each bag. Then I used Avery address labels that I printed out with each child's name on it as well as a picture of Sofia or James.
CUPS & PLATES:
Plain purple!! For the hot cups (and some water bottles) I purchased round Avery labels and printed them out with different Sofia pictures and characters. I attached one to each hot cup and they looked adorable! In fact, people thought I bought them that way!
THE INVITATIONS:
I bought these amazing Sofia the First invitations off of Etsy from PortlyBallerina. Within about 12 hours, the owner had sent me the PDF proof. I sent it over to CVS and picked them up the same day. They were so cute - we got so many compliments. I highly recommend Etsy and PortlyBallerina in particular. She was amazing to work with!! (And no, I don't know her personally!)
THE OUTFIT:
A Princess Sofia dress, amulet, and tiara of course! We got ours from the Disney store but they are sold-out everywhere. You can try on eBay or Amazon, or you can do what I did - call every Disney store in the country until you get one!

Such a nice name!! Sofia. Decorations are superb. Everything looks amazing. Well I am also planning a baby shower party at home studios NYC, and after that photoshoot will be there only. I am happy to arrange everything in nice way. Hopefully everything will get done in budget only.
