Dress Up Storage
So today, there's a huge snowstorm on the East Coast. Up until this morning, I was under the impression we'd be getting up to five inches in the late afternoon/evening. Well... the snow started at 8am. Twelve hours later, I just took an unofficial measurement on my dog's legs and it looks like we have about 12 inches out there.
Snow days are supposed to be for drinking hot cocoa and watching movies, while cuddling by a roaring fireplace, right? Well not if you're a mom. My day consisted of running errands (like a multiple store hunt for Frozen valentines), shoveling (by myself!), reorganizing something in the house, and making a delicious dinner from scratch (no I really did, I swear).
Sooooo.... When Arianna was a year old I started making her a dress up center and I've been adding to it ever since. She has tons of dress up clothes, hats, crowns, jewelry, scarves, shoes, etc. We had been storing everything in a five compartment princess storage unit thing, but lately it's just been exploding all over the place. Nothing fit, she couldn't find anything once it was in there, and it was a major eyesore.
So today wound up being the perfect day to fix it. I chose to make her new dress up center behind her bedroom door so it would be out of the way. I hung up a kid-friendly coat hanger and hung Arianna's dress up clothes from it.
Then I placed wire command hooks around it to hang up the jewelry sets.
Underneath it I placed four small plastic containers - one for headbands/masks, one for tiaras, one for accessories (like sunglasses), and one for cloth accessories (like scarves). Lastly, I put a big plastic container to hold all of her dress up hats. For her countless pairs of dress up shoes, I put them all under the bed in one of those under-the-bed shoe holders. And now it all looks fabulous and neat. Go me!
