The One Bunny Basket
Growing up Easter was my favorite holiday. It was the only day of the year I didn't have to eat breakfast - I could just eat candy! And what kid doesn't love to eat candy for breakfast?
But now, as a mother, I'm going to do something completely different for my daughter. I am giving her a 1 bunny basket. That's it. One box of chocolate in her basket, no candy in the hidden eggs.
Nope, it's not mean. I'm not depriving her. We are being consistent with our normal life and the lessons we teach her about the importance of healthy eating.
Now I'm not saying Arianna never gets junk food. I'm a junk-food addict, so at least twice a week she'll have something crappy - like a donut or half my Hershey's bar. We can't deprive her completely from these things, they're everywhere. We're just trying to teach her it's okay to indulge - as long as it's in moderation. And we're not about to go against that by supplying her with an entire basket full of crap.
So here's what's in Arianna's basket this year:
Other ideas you may consider for your child's Easter basket:
I'm filling the eggs for Arianna's Easter Egg Hunt with the following:
Be creative and fun with it. We don't need to load the baskets with candy to make a fun and memorable Easter - and you don't need to spend a fortune doing it. The Target dollar section always has lots of great stuff. And I recently found really great books at the Christmas Tree Shoppe for 8 cents. 8 CENTS!
Soon I'll post a YouTube video about how I arrange the Easter basket to hold all this stuff!
