Double Cart Trouble
Recently, Arianna and I had to take a quick trip to Target. Since one of the items on our list was rather heavy, I decided to get a cart. Unfortunately during cart selection time I made a regrettable decision.
Instead of getting a regular cart, Arianna asked if we could use one of those carts with the added on piece that sits two kids. You know, she "really really needed to try one out." I said okay. The store was empty and I didn't need many items. What could the harm be?
Well... let me tell you. Those carts are nearly impossible to steer straight, turning into aisles was traumatic, and don't even get me started on how difficult it was when I had to move it to let others squeeze past me in the aisles. (This last trauma could have easily been avoided I'm sure if I had gone to the good Target. But I went to the closer, crappy Target because, after all, I only needed a few things. To those of you who haven't been to terrible Targets, the shelves are mostly empty because all of the items are in packaging boxes that creates a maze of annoyance through nearly every aisle.)
Halfway through our shopping trip, Arianna decided that she hated the cart and wanted to "get out now!" Which out of principle, I simply couldn't let her do. Plus I was afraid I'd lose track of her in my fight to steer the cart correctly.
I never really gave credit to all those moms out there steering these things with multiple kids inside. I'm sure it's easier as you now have 3 seats to sit them in, but damn are they difficult to maneuver. And heavy! I would know - I ran over my own foot with it in the parking lot.
